Booking terms
The terms for gig bookings made through GigWave.
Last updated 31 October 2026. These terms apply to gig bookings made through GigWave. Lessons are covered in section 9.
1. About these terms
GigWave (“we”, “us”) runs a website that helps people and businesses (“hirers”) find, request quotes from and book independent musicians and acts (“artists”) in Australia. By sending a request, sending a quote or paying for a booking, you agree to these terms.
Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts or modifies any right or remedy you have under the Australian Consumer Law or other law that cannot lawfully be excluded.
2. Our role
Artists listed on GigWave are independent. They are not our employees. The performance agreement for a booking is between the hirer and the artist, on the terms set out in the artist’s accepted quote and these terms. We provide the platform for requests, quotes, messages and payment of our service fee, and we help both sides if something goes wrong.
3. Requests and quotes
- Sending a request is free and does not create a booking.
- Prices on artist profiles are indicative only. The price for your event is the one in the artist’s written quote.
- A quote sets out the performance fee, what is included, our service fee, the cancellation policy and how long the quote is valid. A quote can’t be accepted after it expires.
- Please give accurate event details. A quote is based on the details in your request, and significant changes may need a new quote.
4. Accepting a quote and payment
- To accept a quote, you pay our service fee online. The amount is shown on the quote before you pay.
- Your booking is confirmed once the service fee has been paid successfully. Visiting a payment page on its own does not confirm a booking.
- The artist’s performance fee is paid by the hirer directly to the artist, as agreed in the quote. The service fee is not a deposit towards the performance fee.
- Online payments are processed by Stripe. We never see or store your full card details.
- Prices are in Australian dollars.
5. Cancellations and refunds
The cancellation policy that applies to a booking is the one shown in the accepted quote. Unless the quote says otherwise, this policy applies:
- Hirer cancels more than 30 days before the event: our service fee is refunded.
- Hirer cancels within 30 days of the event: our service fee is not refundable.
- Artist cancels: everything you paid through GigWave for that booking is refunded in full. We’ll also help look for a suitable replacement where one is available, but we can’t guarantee one.
To cancel, open your booking and choose Request cancellation, or email us. We review each request against the applicable policy and confirm the outcome by email. Refunds go back to the original payment method. Any amount paid directly to the artist is a matter between the hirer and the artist under their agreement, and we’ll help where we can.
6. Responsibilities
Hirers agree to provide accurate event details, safe access to the performance area, suitable power and shelter where needed, and to tell the artist about any sound limits, venue rules or special requirements before the event.
Artists agree to perform as described in their quote, arrive on time with the equipment they said they would supply, keep their profile accurate, and hold any licences or insurance their work requires.
Everyone agrees to communicate respectfully, and not to post anything unlawful, misleading or offensive through GigWave.
7. Problems and complaints
If something goes wrong with a booking, tell us as soon as possible at info@gigwave.com.au, with your booking reference. We’ll look into it with both sides and let you know what we can do.
8. Liability
Subject to section 1 and to the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for the artist’s performance or for losses that arise from the agreement between hirer and artist. Where our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee can lawfully be limited, it is limited to supplying the service again or refunding our service fee for the affected booking.
9. Lessons
Lessons are arranged and paid for separately from gig bookings. We confirm times and price by email before you pay. With at least 24 hours’ notice, a session can be moved at no charge. Any other terms are confirmed with your lesson booking.
10. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms from time to time. The version that applies to a booking is the one in place when the booking was confirmed.
11. Contact
